Dear Sisters in Christ. Our December 7 meeting was blessed by the presence of Father Dennis, from the start of the Rosary until our Gift Exchange. He shared some background on the Bishop of Myra, St. Nicholas, and his role as Father Christmas, providing for those in need. As Catholic Daughters, our role is similar in providing for those in need. Thank you for your generous contribution of food for the Christmas boxes to the Senior Centers in the area and for the cash purchase of our excess pie tins. I would like to thank the members who participated in our large fund raising project - PIE BAKE. 24 women gave approximately 250 hours on that Saturday to successfully fulfill the orders for 160 Apple Pies, and meeting our goal of $3000. Thanks to - Roz Barbera and her sister, Nina Dailey, for preparing the dry mix seasonings for the pie and the streusel topping. Their 16 + hours really made the pie assembly go smoothly. AND to Janine Stevens, Dorothy Hess, Lynn McNew, Eve Rousseau, Patty Potratz, Sharon Chavez, Alana Demma, Sue Laux, Anne Hartsfield, Nicole Stevens McKowen, Eva Fulton, Cyd Nunley, Gerri Musso, Wanda Parker, Rita Hendry, Cynthia Petit, Marilynn Kauffman, Beth Schulte, Sherry Holloway, Mary White, Teresa Orosco, Mary Rios, and Gerlie Riecker. ALSO, huge thanks to the ladies who distributed the pies on Sunday, 11/22. Please continue to offer your prayers for our Parish Families, for Roz, Ann McGhee, Wanda Parker, Marianne May-Rodda, Debbie Braymer and family, Rosanna Lewis, Mike & Andrea Broom, Fr. Jonathan Demma, Cheryl Pawlak’s husband, Cathy Hotchkin’s husband, Brandon Jimenez, Mike Potratz, and for Selina Khan’s mother, Gracie Ann Curry, who entered into eternal rest on Monday, 12/21. Looking ahead, January is the month of the Holy Name. The 4th will be our next meeting, the anniversary of Court Mother Seton #2513, and the feast of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. We will be celebrating with cake and games! Annual Dues of $30 is due! If you haven’t paid your 2020 Dues, it will be $60.00. Topics to address will include the Texas State CDA Convention in April. Our Court’s participation in the Purse Auction, and opportunities to serve here in the community and with the convention. St. George Catholic School, Haltom City, is looking to upgrade their library - please consider recycling children’s books (or buying a few new ones) to help fill their shelves. The organizations with the Parish were also approached about donating TVs for 10 classrooms. There will be more details coming, after school resumes. We do have funds to allow us to support this worthwhile project for our Circle of Love - Education. I am so blessed by your prayers for God’s protection and healing. Thank you for your thoughtful intercession on my behalf. God has done great things for me, and holy is His name. Mary’s mantle has covered me with peace and strength during the surgery, and now as I rehab at home, and I appreciate the blessings of prayers, food, flowers, and Mass cards. I have had more time for prayer in general and specifically for those in need during this Christmas season. Each of you, and your family, are in my prayers for joy, peace, and strength to remain focused on the Light of Christ. |
